The terminal operator keys data, such as updates in a database entry, into the appropriate fields. When entry is complete (or ENTER or PF key pressed on 3270s), a block of data, usually just the data entered by the operator (modified data), is sent to the host in one transmission. The 3270 terminal buffer (at the device) could be updated on a single character basis, if necessary, because of the existence of a "set buffer address order" (SBA), that usually preceded any data to be written/overwritten within the buffer. Block-oriented terminals cause less system load on the host and less network traffic than character-oriented terminals. They also appear more responsive to the user, especially over slow connections, since editing within a field is done locally rather than depending on echoing from the host system. Early terminals had limited editing capabilities - 3270 terminals, for example, only could check entries as valid numerics. Subsequent "smart" or "intelligent" terminals incorporated microprocessors and supported more local processing.

CGA used the same scan rate as NTSC television, allowing it to provide a composite video output which could be used with any compatible television or composite monitor, as well as a direct-drive TTL output suitable for use with any RGBI monitor using an NTSC scan rate. MDA scanned at a higher frequency and required a proprietary monitor, the IBM 5151. The card also included a built-in printer port. Both cards could also be installed simultaneously for mixed graphics and text applications. For instance, AutoCAD, Lotus 1-2-3 and other software allowed use of a CGA Monitor for graphics and a separate monochrome monitor for text menus. Third parties went on to provide an enormous variety of aftermarket graphics adapters, such as the Hercules Graphics Card. The two bays in the front of the machine could be populated with one or two 5.25″ floppy disk drives, storing 160 KB per disk side for a total of 320 KB of storage on one disk.

Maybe you want to browse the web without storing cookies, or you want to remove browser cookies from a particular website. A web proxy is one way to use the internet without cookies being stored in your browser. Not all proxies support disabling them, though, so be sure to look for that feature. It's more common with anonymous web proxies. Another way is to use cookies temporarily, automatically deleting them when you're done with the site. You can do that by using the website in private browsing mode. Or, if you want to use cookies to keep your login information saved and utilize their other benefits, you can always manually delete them later. You can also clear cookies for one specific site so that the others aren't affected. You can also see which cookies are stored in your browser. How you do this is different for every browser (and some don't let you), but in Chrome, for example, you can enter chrome://settings/siteData as a URL to jump right into those settings. Cookies were originally designed to make life easier for web searchers. Popular sites like Amazon, Google, and Facebook use them to deliver highly customized, personal web pages that deliver targeted content to you. Unfortunately, some websites and internet advertisers have found other uses for them. They can and do gather sensitive personal information that might be used to profile you with advertisements that seem almost intrusive with how targeted they are. Cookies do offer quite a few very useful benefits that make web browsing more convenient. On the other hand, you might be concerned that your privacy has the potential to be violated. However, this isn't something that you should necessarily be concerned about. Cookies are absolutely harmless.

Whether it's for use in your home theater, powering digital signage or just giving you a way to watch Netflix on your hotel TV, the Access3 presses forward in a form-factor that larger manufacturers have largely forgotten. The Azulle Access3 is our new favorite stick PC, and the best mini PC you can slip into your pocket. Read our full Azulle Access3 review. The Apple Mac mini with M1 processor is everything we loved about the Mac mini, but now its cheaper and faster thanks to the addition of Apple's custom M1 chip. While the M1 chip's lack of support for Boot Camp makes running Windows on this machine tricky, for most users this is a no-brainer: The M1 Mac mini is the most affordable of Apple's new crop of Macs, and it delivers huge value for a decent price. If you're a professional or were keen for now-missing features like eGPU support, then you might want to look elsewhere, but if you just want a Mac desktop that won't cost a lot of money, the M1 Mac mini is the best thing out there.
